It's time for sharing the love and spreading hugs! Valentine's Day is just around the corner and if you are a planner like I am, you have already started thinking about what kind of cookies you will make. This year I created some really fun hugs and kisses cookies, along with some basic royal icing flowers to top off some of my heart cookies.

For my circle cookies, I used a simple sugar cookie cut out recipe that you can find here. Instead of using Mexican Vanilla, I swapped in 1 1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon orange extract, still using the almond extract as it calls for.

My cut out cookies in the shape of an X, was a peanut butter recipe that I split the dough in half and also made Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies.

The hearts were my simple, no chill Chocolate Chip recipe found here that is really delicious, with or without icing.

My royal icing recipe is here that I used for these cookies. I used vanilla extract this time for better flavor with a range of different cookies.

If you are interested in sprinkles for cookies and cupcakes I would recommend Fancy Sprinkles or Neon Yolk from Etsy (like you see on my electric green and purple cookies).

Here are some other sets I did playing around:
