This recipe makes my heart melt because it always brings back such fond memories of my grandma. The smell reminds me of her home during the holidays, when I would walk in the kitchen and see nuts spread all over the table drying. It was one of the little things I would look forward to when we went to visit.

I've never shared this recipe before, I'm not sure why but always held onto it. It really is pretty easy, just be careful not to let the nuts overcook. So don't set it and forget it!!! Keep your eye on this one!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pecan halves

  • 1 egg white

  • 1 Tablespoon water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Place egg white and water in mixing bowl and beat until frothy, but not stiff. You should still be able to stir easily.

  2. Pour pecans into the egg whites and stir until nuts are fully coated.

  3. In second bowl, mix sugar, salt and cinnamon together.

  4. Pour sugar mixture over the coated nuts and stir.

  5. Spread the nuts on a cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Make sure you take them out and stir every 15 minutes.

  6. Cool completely on tray or spread out on parchment paper for cooling, laying the nuts out in a single layer.

  7. Store in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks.

Tip: Do not use wax paper to bake these on.
